    TransLab Edu

TransLab, a trademarked product of Transcend, Inc., is the company's premier online laboratory prescription application.

As in the past, and in today’s educational facilities, dental schools use a number of private laboratories for the fabrication of dental prostheses. Requests and design specifications are completed in hard copy by students under the supervision of departmental faculty. Record of the prescriptions is maintained as hard copy in the patient file and in the laboratory. In addition to faculty supervision, students are required to confirm that the patient is in good financial standing in the school prior to the fabrication of any dental prosthesis.

Each of these steps requires manual and hard copy note taking and filing. With the availability of cutting-edge, hi-tech computer technology, current methods are simply a costly and time consuming recipe.
By utilizing the application TranLab Edu, facilities can:

    Improve the complete educational process
    Elevate standards of documentation
Assist in the administration of laboratory communications
    Enhance quality assurance
Reduce financial risk from costly unauthorized laboratory procedures

    4 Enhance Quality Assurance
The student prescription remains in a draft status until reviewed by a supervising faculty
member. The faculty member must enter a code as part of the authorization process to generate a prescription. QA is never compromised.

    5 Reduce Financial Risk

Personal financial records and submitted forms remain in draft status until a financial officer enters an authorization code. A prescription cannot be printed in the draft status until a code is supplied. After completing the faculty and financial authorizations, the system will only then generate a laboratory script. This feature will ensure that unauthorized work is never submitted to the lab. The laboratory, if participating, may enter the fee for the prescribed procedure in the TransLab™ application. This will provide an administrator access to view charges with prescriptions.
